Mountain View Health Services is raising funds to acquire penicillin, a vital antibiotic medication necessary to treat syphilis and prevent devastating birth defects and brain infections.
What is Syphilis and why is this campaign urgent?
Syphilis infections in newborn babies have risen dramatically in Alaska during the last five years according to the State of Alaska. Since 2018 we have screened over 700 people for Syphilis, and treated 26 patients for syphilis, preventing severe infections and birth defects. This a vital public health service to our community which deserves public support.
